No sailor enjoys fog and we are getting our fair share due to this mild weather. We left Awendaw Creek at 7;15 and all was well until the fog rolled in on us at 9;30. fortunately we could slip into a side creek and anchor up so here we sit in the fuzzy air hoping Mr. Sun will do his job.
We spent an hour waiting for the fog to clear then moved on. We had to time a drawbridge which opens only on the hour and we just made it. I was very pleased not to have to wait there another hour fighting the current.
Then on to Charleston Harbor which was bustling with traffic on a Sunday afternoon. Had an inkling about stopping but quickly thought better of it. We wanted to get through a dangerous section of the ICW called Elliot's Cut. There is a drawbridge there that opens "on demand" on the weekend. This is good because the current is extremely strong here if you don:t time it for slack tide. We were early as the tide was still ebbing but the bridge opened right up so we scooted through. The current was still very strong and at one point we were only making 1 mph. We prevailed and now we are anchored in Church Creek enjoying a beautiful sunset. Pictures to follow!
Skipper - I vicariously enjoying your cruise. We had lots of fog in the 'Burgh as well. Safe sailing. Guy
