Bass Creek

We are anchored in Bass Creek after a 36 mile day. It's a tight fit as this is a narrow one but we are snug. Tomorrow we will head back to civilization as we plan to spend 2 days enjoying the sites in Beaufort. Much to see and of course..."she crab" soup!
Today I really felt like we were getting tuned in to this watery world called the ICW. We are connecting to the rhythm of life that centers around channels and tides and currents and wind. We've seen tons of wildlife already: Pelican and sea birds, many, many dolphin, and even some ducks. The scenery has been mostly flat with vast expanses of wetland and grass. Almost like a swampy savannah. seeing more trees as we approach Beaufort (pronounced Bew-fort).
Right now the banks of our anchorage are gurgling as the tide drops. Here is a picture.
Joanna is baking beer batter bread for dinner. man my mouth is watering! Finally, I think all this activity is good for my body. I feel like I have lost weight (Joey is smaller)and I can cinch my belt in a notch or two. Surely I'll be letting it out again after dinner :-)
