We had a great day today which I almost turned into disaster. We walked to the WW2 Museum after a quick trip to the bank. WWII was really great and the main reason why I wanted to visit N.O.
The surround sound seat jiggling movie by Tom Hanks about the war was worth the price of admission all by itself. Simply terrific! Then we walked through the exhibits and saw lots of cool WWII hardware. The thing that surprised me the most is how small the Sherman Tank was and some of the planes. Even the Bombers had tiny cramped cockpits. The exhibits really do a good job of pointing out that this was a global conflict of magnificent proportions of death and destruction.
After the museum, we jumped into a cab and headed to the Redfish Grill for a tasty lunch. Just after we ordered I realized that I had lost my cell phone. What an awful feeling!! The last I knew I had it out at the museum. Joanna dialed my number and lo and behold someone at the museum answered. Whew! Disaster avoided as they had found it! So, after lunch we jumped into another cab and hustled back over to the museum and I was reunited with my Android! I was very fortunate to get it back, vowing to be more careful in the future!
Next it was one more cab ride over to the French Quarter Market where Joanna bought a few nifty items and I got a great Mardi Gras shirt. By then it was time for a walk and a nice afternoon snack at the famous Cafe Dumond. We had coffee and beignets and I could eat those powdered delights every day!!!
Back home feeling tired but very satisfied with our visit to NOLA.
Below is not the bank we wanted.
