Family, Food, and Casinos

We had a great week in Vegas with family: Dennis and wife Olena, and Danny and wife Alma. We visited, ate some great food at the casino buffets, and I even made a few bucks at the casino. We did more eating than anything else...I need a gym!

Now Joanna and I have crossed into California which so far is a big dry, mountainous desert.   Hopefully our trip will reach its zenith on the shores of the pacific at Malibu some time tomorrow!

We visited 3 casinos and I was a winner at all three. Somebody rub my head!

 We had the family over one day. Dennis, Danny, Alma, Me, and Olena. Lucky me!

Lake Mead

We are all tucked in at Lake Mead in what is clearly the finest RV spot we have ever had! Check out the view through my front window:

Wickieup, AZ

Wickieup AZ

We left Tucson around 9 am and now we are in the thriving metropolis of Wickieup, AZ. Not much going on in this little town about 40 miles south of Kingman and around 100 miles or so from Vegas. 

We had a glorious drive up Rte 93 through the mountains. Beautiful vistas over each hill and a desert green landscape just blooming with flowers. Joshua tree cactus and Saguaros everywhere. 

I purchased a refrigerator upgrade device at the Escapade show.  Basically help protect my fridge while we travel. A very nice man named Mark finished the installation yesterday.  Unfortunately he must not have secured the exterior panel as it blew off while we were traveling today. Big opening in the side of the coach. I jury rigged the opening so hopefully we can make it to Vegas and get it fixed.  Joanna ordered us a new panel online and Mark will replace the missing fan parts so I guess things could be worse. 

Tomorrow we will be in Vegas to spend some time with Joanna’s brothers. Should be fun!

Old Tucson

Today was our last day in Tucson and it was a good one. We drove over to Old Tucson this morning.  OT is a little Hollywood town built for filming westerns beginning in 1940. Hollywood's finest including the likes of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood have made movies here. We had a nice time and now I will have to watch a bunch of old westerns all over again! Lots to see and they even put on some shows for the tourists including a rousing gun battle.

After Old Tucson we headed out for an early dinner and drove over the Gates Pass Rod. Easily the scenic highlight of the week. Had a nice dinner and now resting up for the drive tomorrow.
