Above is Victory Park, a tribute to the 61,000 Canadian soldiers that gave their lives in WW1. I was moved by it, but more so by the homeless people everywhere in the parks and on the streets. Vancouver is a jewel of a city, but obviously poverty and drugs are everywhere. We were panhandled and I got emotional at the thought that this was the best they could do with their lives when so many died without ever having a chance to live theirs. If you get the chance, see the movie, "They Shall Not Grow Old". A moving film about the slaughter of that war.
That picture below is not a fire. Above and below is the steam clock which runs on the same. .
Victory park. I love the WW1 helmet lamp posts.
McDonalds Kiosks in a brief moment when millenials were not crowding them to order their food. While we were there, it was only millenials who used them. Perhaps it is just easier to do this than have to interact with a human. There were plenty of friendly servers ready to take my order.
Downtown evening fight eyes from our room. Great hotel! The towels were so fluffy I had a difficult time getting my suitcase closed!
From the plane
Tomorrow we are taking a guided tour and then on to our cruise ship, the Celebrity Eclipse headed for Hawaii with my bradda, Rich, and his wife, Robin. Should be fun!!!
Just spent an hour in the hotel pool, steam room, and hot tub! Now I am ready for a Margarita at Old Joe's Rest. Life is good!
Vancouver looks so beautiful! Nice fight eyes! Have a margarita for me! Xoxoxoxo
